About Us

A new way of shopping, combining the bargain prices of pre-loved children’s clothes with the quality and convenience of buying brand new!

Buildabundle was founded in 2018 by Anna, a busy mum to 3 young children who were 1, 2 and 5 at the time. I quickly realised that the expensive clothes I bought my own kids were only ever new for the first wear! I hated wasting the lovely outfits they’d hardly worn, and was concerned about the environmental impact of always buying brand new. I wanted to buy and sell more pre-loved, but it was hard work to find things.

I thought about how quick and easy it was to click onto the websites of big retailers and buy brand new stuff, and I wished there was a website where you could buy preloved clothes as easily . I couldn’t find anything like that back then… so decided to make one! Starting in my living room with a few carrier bags of clothes bought from parents in my local area, Buildabundle was born… A lot of late nights and hard work led to it growing quickly, and in 2019 my friend Nathalie came on board to help, with some amazing ideas to grow the business. We now own and run Buildabundle together, with our small team of staff to help.

We sell quality pre-loved children’s clothing through our website, where you can see and choose exactly what you’re getting and ‘build your own bundle’ You can search by age, brand and type of clothing, and order online for delivery, with one postage charge. All items have been checked carefully, and we only sell items we would be happy to buy ourselves. So you’re getting items you love in great condition, with no wastage. We also buy big bundles of outgrown clothes from parents all across the UK.

We currently find new homes for over 1,000 items a week! Our stock is constantly changing, and we upload items most days. We’ve built a community of over 30,000 people on our social media, and have bought up stock from several other preloved clothes businesses which have closed down.

SUSTAINABILITY

Our business is built with the aim of helping parents to live more sustainably – by buying preloved clothes instead of brand new, you’re already being kinder to the planet! It’s so important to us, as parents we have a duty to try and make a better future for our children.

We incorporate sustainability into every aspect of our business – so our orders are sent in reused postbags the majority of the time. We do have to use brand new bags sometimes when we run out of used ones, but generally our customers are brilliant at keeping us stocked up with used ones! We stock wildflower seeds to encourage people to plant flowers to feed the bees. We ditched the use of plastic tagging guns in February 2021, and now stick our labels directly to the inside of our items, which we estimate saves 30,000 plastic clothing tags per year!

We’re happy to partner with Ecologi as a ‘Climate Friendly Workforce’, where Ecologi plant trees and invest in climate projects on our behalf. We hold regular days where we plant extra trees through our Ecologi account for every order or item sold on a particular day – keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for these! LOYALTY SCHEME

We love our customers, and have so many returning customers who we’re very grateful for. When you’ve made 15 orders we will give you a £10 voucher, to say thank you. We don’t send these out automatically, you need to contact us in order to check how many orders you’ve done or claim your voucher. Just our way of saying thank you!

COMBINED POSTAGE

We offer a combined postage service. If you don’t need your order immediately and think you might want to add to it, you can pay our normal postage charge on your order and add a note in the ‘order notes’ section asking us to hold the order back and not post it. Then on any subsequent orders you can select ‘free local collection’ (which will remove the postage charge) and add another note asking for items to be added to your previous order. We will keep your orders together, and you can add to them as many times as you like – Then when you’re ready for them to be posted contact us to let us know, and we’ll send them all out together!

A NOTE ON SHOPPING BOYS/GIRLS/ GENDER-NEUTRAL

We do separate our clothes into boys and girls sections, as our feedback has told us that we have a lot of customers who prefer to shop this way for ease and convenience, without having to search through items they aren’t interested in. HOWEVER we also know that many customers prefer to view everything in a particular size, without being constrained by ‘boys’ or ‘girls’ labels. (We totally agree kids should wear whatever they like!)

Therefore we have also created an option to shop gender-neutral for our customers who prefer to shop this way. If you go to our homepage and click on ‘Shop All Clothes, this will show you absolutely everything we have in stock, without separating it into genders – you can then use the filters at the top of the page.
