Buildabundle is closing down soon

Hi everyone,

This is a message I hoped I would never have to write, but it’s time to say goodbye to Buildabundle.

After nearly two years of running Buildabundle, and nearly eight years of running our sister preloved company Katie’s Kids Clothes, we have had to make the extremely sad, and difficult, decision to close the businesses down.

When Anna & Nat, the original owners of Buildabundle decided to step back from the business in 2023, we didn’t want to see all their hard work go to waste.  We got in touch with them and were incredibly honoured that they agreed to hand the Buildabundle reigns over to us.  We had hoped to continue offering great quality preloved clothes to you all for many years to come.

Unfortunately, since taking over we have seen a steady decline in sales, probably due to the increased popularity of Vinted. With a big building to maintain and a small team to pay each month, we saw our running costs go up considerably and yet we found we can’t put up the prices of our clothes at the same rate to maintain any kind of profit to pay ourselves.

We had to take the difficult decision to let our little team go at the end of last year, which was incredibly hard to do and it really hasn’t been the same since. I would like to say a huge thank you to Kim, Rachel & Kate for everything you did for our little business.

With the lease on our building due for renewal in the autumn, we’ve had to make a horrible decision and will be closing down both Buildabundle and Katie’s Kids Clothes this summer.  We don’t have the space to run the business from home anymore, so we had no choice, unfortunately. 

So, Buildabundle will stay open for a little while longer.   We still have over 5,000 items on the website and we need to sell off all of the clothes we have in the building, so all items have been significantly reduced.  We’re doing the same with over 7,000 items over on the Katie’s Kids Clothes website as well.

We know Buildabundle disappearing is going to affect so many of you – we know a lot of you started buying from the business when Anna and Nat were running it. Thank you all for your support over the years, it has meant so much to us, we are so sad to be stepping away from this wonderful preloved community.

If you can help us give all our remaining items of clothing a new home, we’d really appreciate it. Do make good use of the Closing Down Sale discounts, think ahead to the next season, or maybe stock up with the next couple of sizes for the future.
